On the occasion of the world aids day, 2009 the Akhil Bhartiya JanKalyan Vikas Samiti organised on 01-12-2009 a symposium near the historical IMLI Tree, a reminiscence of the freedom struggle, on the Kanpur Road with a view to safeguarding the society from the dreadful disease like AIDS and advising it for shedding hatred towards the AIDS patients which was followed by candle lighting programme the same evening at the same venue. The symposium / programme was attended immensely among others by the woman folk drawn from the near by Sulem Sarai, Neem Sarai, and Dhoomanganj towns. Speaking on the occasion, a prominent social worker, Pradeep Nirmal added that it was essential for every member of the house-hold to adopt measures of safety from this deadly disease. He termed it as a social curse. In his tern, Sri Krishna Kumar Pandey, President of the Samiti appealed to the participants to refrain from the use of contaminated syringes and invariably use a fresh syringe every time an injection is taken. He further advised the male audience to carefully remain faithfully to their life partners and always use condom as a precautionary measure.
