Around 150 children have been enrolled into one special school for child labourers in the District Nainital (Uttrakhand), By the Samiti.

 

 

Roof Building School

Besides, Roof Building School with the name of Gyandeep Kendra School was started by Akhil Bhartiya JanKalyan Vikas Samiti, near Mankanpur village at Bailpadaw Forest Range , District Nainital, near Ramnagar Tahsil. This was aimed at taking a positive step towards welfare of the mining labourers. The village Pradhan, Shri Prakash Chandra opened the center on Thursday by lighting a lamp. On the occasion, he said that since the children are the future assets of the nation, it was essential that the premise of each labour is lit by the luster of education so that Bright future of the nation is ensured. Sri Krishna Kumar Pandey, President of the Samiti advised that mining labour must think of educating and making aware their children. Otherwise, if left to their condition, those children would search their future in the garbage instead of studying the books.

 

On the occasion, free Books, slate and stationary items were distributed among 100 children attending the center.

 

 

Different situation

 

A study of the general condition of the labourers engaged in the task of mining stone, sand, etc. on the banks of the river Dawbka revealed that most of them were drawn from the rural areas of the other state, were very poor but kept their families with them, their children-enjoying scare facilities for their schooling.
